I'm not fooled...

...by these past few mild, sunshiney days. All it takes is a glimpse of my photos from last year, late March I believe, of snow on the tulips, to realize winter can (and probably will) pack a late punch any time in the next many weeks. That knowledge makes these rare days even more special; I'll take them as they come and make the most of them.

In art, my two pieces for "Money Talks, Art Walks" IAO benefit found homes during the auction, which makes me happy. As submissions are suppose to be anonymous, I didn't like to share them before the event, but now it's over, here they are.

Next, a few very different commissions, and working on possible pieces for "Oklahoma Friendly" and "Biting the Apple". Nothing but ideas and loose sketches so far, but canvases have been ordered, and deadlines are only a few weeks away, so I really should get busy. Right now.

I'm a sucker for an orphan...

Lonely cats, battered crumbly books, dingy, floppy-headed stuffed animals, and now it looks like my adoption services have been expanded to include shabby, holey, frayed quilts. I noticed it last week at the 'everything's half price' thrift shop, where it caught my eye with its look of those already-tattered childhood quilts I remember from the 60s and 70s. Still, it wasn't what I was after, and what would I do with it? I think the price then would have been $15, which could have been spent more wisely elsewhere, and probably was. Today, though, it was still on my mind, so when I passed that way again I gave in to the urge to stop in, just to see. I reckoned it would be long gone. It wasn't. There it hung in its "seen much, much better days" faded glory, and with a reduced price that meant I ended up giving $8 to bring it home.
What to do with it, I haven't a plan, but at least I can revel in its lovely fabrics, and Miss Blue made it feel right at home. A few more pictures can be found on my flickr page.

In productive news, 8 new pendants were completed and delivered to Istvan Gallery, in time for tonight's opening reception. Here are a few.

This Friday, Feb. 5, will be the debut of my newest batch of necklaces! Come see them at Studio Six, NW 30th and Paseo, Oklahoma City. The Friday event will run from 6 pm till 9 or 10 (depending on how long the gallery strollers choose to stick around), and Saturday's open house is from noon till 5 pm. The jewelry will remain in Studio Six through the month of February, so if you can't make it this weekend (though you'll want to for the best selection, as well as live music and tasty refreshments), feel free to pop in later in the month.
My copper jewelry can also be found at Istvan Gallery (1218 N. Western Ave.) in Oklahoma City, where some fresh, free form copper swirl pieces will be offered in time for Valentine's shopping.

In other news, my baby turned 18 Sunday, and made a party of the whole weekend, naturally. You can see she has a charming plethora of pals.
