Sit, Stay, Art! was a successful event in support of Pets and People Human Society. For a one-night show, the crowd was epic, and a great many pieces of art were sold.
Both my pieces sold, and I was more than happy to help the animals. Looking forward to the next one.
There was also a quick jaunt to Kansas City with Jeri, to see the Parlotones and some snow. There was bowling at Red Pin, a Thunder Game, and some planning for the summer time.
A lovely Saturday morning kayak outing on the river just before the cold gloomy weather returned, and some new necklaces to be offered at "A Jeweler's Art" on the Paseo, just in time for this Friday's gallery stroll.

Trinkets and Baubles
Red Cup Coffee House is having their annual holiday extravaganza in less than two weeks. December 4, in fact. While I'll have an assortment of arts and jewelry on offer during the event, today I created a new set of collaged pendants. Here there are, before soldering.
This photo shows side 1. Images are comprised of paper, transparencies, labels, foil, superfine glitter, tiny stars, text.
Here you can see the reverse side of the same pendants.

Moliere

One good thing about starting over (I'm trying hard to be positive here), is you don't have to wade through tons of photos when looking for images to upload. The latest text pendants are a mix of Tennessee Williams ("Streetcar Named Desire"), and Moliere, translated of course.

How Fierce A Fiend is Passion.

A freshly completed necklace that's tricky to photograph. The pale background shows the glass hues best, but a dark one would highlight the silver chain; camera angle and variances in glass shape distort the text, but in real life it can be read clearly. As creative types, I'm sure you can use your imaginations. Not to mention clicking on the photo will make it bigger and clearer.
I'm having a fine time with my 1952 book of Eighteenth Century Plays, reading and cutting and reading and cutting and reading and reading and reading..... I like to know what I'm slicing into, but in reading I get caught up in the story and don't want to stop.
Still, there are already other snippets of text under glass: "to ease an aching heart,", "Oh! had I lived in those days", "Thou art a pert merry hussy.", "this strange lady", "I fear 'tis all a dream.".
Meanwhile, I agreed to one of those annoying telephone opinion things, that involved my receiving a dvd to watch - today, and today only - (UPS finally delivered it at 4 pm), fill out some paperwork, and expect a follow up call tomorrow, to answer questions about what I viewed. I should have had it watched by now, but have been unable to figure out the dvd player. Guess I don't spend enough time with certain machines in the house.

Here's an atc I just created, after receiving a sweet packet of paper treats from Helga of Art Chix Studio. It was my prize for her 'make something out of scraps' challenge, and she asked me to create something with her goodies. The watercolor card, vintage music, and colorful bird were included. The pink shiny bits had arrived last week, in another card from Helga. This was fun, despite pink not being a color I normally gravitate toward, I enjoy looking at this little card. It makes me smile.

One World One Heart Giveaway!

Thanks to everyone who visited me! Wow - 333 - the kitty will have his work cut out for him when it comes to choosing. Commenting is now closed. Winners will be contacted Thursday, Feb. 12, and a new post will announce them as well.
I'm happy to have learned of the One World-One Heart project in time to participate this time. Of course, I'm much more proficient at making tactile things than arranging blog posts and pages, so lets all cross our fingers that I can get the info where it belongs!
Lisa Oceandreamer Swifka started this amazing project, and it has certainly blossomed into quite a collection of creative souls. Last I checked, there were over 300 blogs playing along, each offering a delicious prize (sometimes even more), and all you have to do is visit each one, have an inspiring browse, leave a comment & your contact info, and bingo bango - you could be a winner!
For more information, click the One World-One Heart logo. It's a fine, fun way to explore the lives of countless other fascinating people, and make some new, inspiring friends from all over the world. What more could you want?
Oh yeah, maybe a prize in the mail.....
GlassGrrl will be giving you a choice and who doesn't like one of those? Leave me a clever comment (or not, if you don't feel up to the clever part, but I bet you can do it) between now and Feb. 11 (2009 of course). In the early wee hours of Feb. 12, one of my wise and witty cats will choose a lucky winner from amongst the comments (only comments on this particular post will qualify, but feel free to spread your thoughts around if you want).
The winner will be notified by me (cat can't use the keyboard yet with any accuracy), so be sure to include your email and/or website.
Upon winning, said lucky participant will get to pick one of the pendants shown: either Jellyfish, which is made with a piece of green sea glass, twisted, hammered copper wire, and coated with shiny silvery leadfree solder; or, Mucha, two-sided microscope slide pendant. The Mucha image has been enhanced with metallic paint, and the reverse side contains a mini collage with a nautical, French ambience.
Update: since I've gotten so many lovely responses, and there are days and days yet to go, I've changed my giveaway just a bit. The winner will still get to choose from the two pictured pendants, but the cat is going to pick out two more lucky names after that; one will receive the second necklace, and the other will receive a super duper secret mystery pendant. So hows about that? Your chances of winning just tripled. Sort of. Carry on.
