What a gorgeous spring we've had!  Still, art never stops, and Paseo Festival will be upon us again in a matter of days.  I'm working up some new body painting designs, based on vintage illustrations.  Photos here, when (if) they happen.  Meanwhile, animal shelter fundraising art show is also fast approaching.   While I expect to have a painting or two in the show, for now I've created these scrappy cats - inspired by the lovely creatures who have been discarded, but still have much to offer those fine people who are willing to give them a home.

Time gets away.  What can I say?  It's easier to live life and do stuff than to carefully document it along the way.   So, a new year is upon us, more things have been created.
This piece of cobalt glass and reclaimed mirror will be available at OKCMOA's Omelette Party art raffle coming up in a couple weeks.

A Little Color

Over the weekend I was thinking I need to collect my found object painting, "Lisa se Klavier" from IAO Gallery after the Red Dot auction, but Monday morning before I left the house, the mailman brought a check and a thank-you from IAO for participating in the event.  That's the kind of surprise I could get used to.   I didn't recognize the name of the buyer, but am happy the painting has a found a good home.
Tomorrow night is Trinkets and Baubles at Red Cup, for which I've finished a few new works, other than charms and the previously previewed collaged pendants.
These are quickie photos, taken just before packing and delivering to the site, and primarily for documentation, but with a gloomy winter weekend looming, it seemed the thing to do to share some glowing color.

This evening is Paseo's First Friday Gallery Walk, which I recommend taking advantage of - much fresh art up and down the street (including some brand new saucy text pendants in A Jeweler's Art), treats and libations, caroling, some sort of tree-lighting ceremony, and mostly - one final balmy evening before winter blasts   into OKC.
Tony and I were planning a kayak outing this afternoon, but time didn't allow, so I'm watching the lengthening shadows, knowing this could be the last golden, friendly day for some time.
Oh well, more reason to bundle up at the easel and make more paintings....

Red and Shiny

Haven't fired up the soldering iron for a while, but the east window gives nice morning light, and since I had a special request, I gathered some materials:
And whipped up a hand mirror:

This Friday, Feb. 5, will be the debut of my newest batch of necklaces! Come see them at Studio Six, NW 30th and Paseo, Oklahoma City. The Friday event will run from 6 pm till 9 or 10 (depending on how long the gallery strollers choose to stick around), and Saturday's open house is from noon till 5 pm. The jewelry will remain in Studio Six through the month of February, so if you can't make it this weekend (though you'll want to for the best selection, as well as live music and tasty refreshments), feel free to pop in later in the month.
My copper jewelry can also be found at Istvan Gallery (1218 N. Western Ave.) in Oklahoma City, where some fresh, free form copper swirl pieces will be offered in time for Valentine's shopping.

In other news, my baby turned 18 Sunday, and made a party of the whole weekend, naturally. You can see she has a charming plethora of pals.

Moliere

One good thing about starting over (I'm trying hard to be positive here), is you don't have to wade through tons of photos when looking for images to upload. The latest text pendants are a mix of Tennessee Williams ("Streetcar Named Desire"), and Moliere, translated of course.

Blizzard! .....or not......

That's right, you're looking at the 6-8" of snow predicted for Oklahoma City. It never arrived last night, as far as I could tell, and this puffy little dusting started in the afternoon and finished shortly after. Not the best photo, but I was compelled to document the "big snow of '09" before putting a box over the tulips so they might survive to open in the sun tomorrow. It is kind of cold though, and mostly gloomy outside, & despite my best intentions, I wasn't as creatively productive as I'd hoped to be. But I've a three-hour bat mitzvah coming right up, which will force me to flex the painting muscles for a while. Seeing as I have to leave the house in 15 minutes, this'll be a quickie of a post, just a catch-up mostly, to let everyone know I survived the gloom & doom fearmongering of the weathermen. Again.
Here's one of the collage mirrors; not complete yet, but in the final stages of polishing and cleaning. What I hate about working with mirror and clear glass - so difficult to get it properly clean, all smudges and smears and bits of lint removed, every trace of flux and polish scrubbed out of the crevices. Then, after all my painstaking efforts, I set them out for public view and they get covered in greasy fingerprints and blowing dust. Maybe I can find a polish-cloth-wielding assistant......
